The Enthusiast

The enthusiast is Júlíus Júlíusson from Iceland. Born on February 2nd in the great snowy winter of 1966, in the small fishing village Dalvík in the north of Iceland where he lives with his wife and children.

Júlíus has worked in various fields but always has been drawn to working with people, he has worked with the elderly among other things as a director of activities in Dalbær retirement home in Dalvík, where one of his endeavors  The Weather Club is a nationally known club. They have since 1995 been making monthly weather predictions based on the members extensive experience and intuition. Their weather predicting skills honed by their lives and work on sea and land, having up to a 100 years experience of the Icelandic weather, which can be most unpredictable unless you know what signs you are looking for.

Júlíus was one of the instigators and now manager of the Great Fishday, the biggest seafood festival in Europe where around 30.000 people gather annually in Dalvík (pop. 1.600) enjoying the hospitality of the residents and the fishing companies coming together for a weekend of fun and fish for everyone and perhaps the most appealing thing for most families is coming together and enjoying their time together without having to empty their wallets since the whole festival is free.

In addition Júlíus has also been active in event planning and managing, he has worked in marketing and also been active in the cultural scene and been in boards of various cultural endeavors and well as being on several boards, among others the board of Local Foods in Eyjafjörður which is in the north of Iceland.

This site is meant to uplift and to share my ideas with you. Recipies, advice and thougts about life, living and the world in general. I call myself an enthusiast when it comes to food and food preparation, well and many more things as well. I like making peoples’ lives a little better, lifting their spirits, cooking from the heart and just generally leading a joy filled life and trying my best to share it.

I’ve had a Icelandic website for 15 years. Among the most popular features is the Christmas web which gets about 2-300.000 visits every Christmas. My friendly (Love)site containes a lot of inspiring and uplifting things which you can use to draw from energy, peace and joy in your hours of joyfulness or sadness. There is also a food blog and more aspects that a related to my hometown of Dalvík. My vision is to, in time, bring all these elements to the English part of the site.
