I have a smoothie for breakfast every morning and I try to make them varied. Usually I just use the ingredients I have at home. When I hit a good recipe for a delicious smoothie I write it down. It`s the best to start the day with such a nutritious and powerful drink like this. It keeps the hunger feeling away longer than if you would eat cereal for breakfast. Chia Seed Recipes – Smoothie Recipes with Avacado.
6-8 Brazilian nuts or hand fill of Cashew nuts
1 small but well ripe avocado
2 table spoons Chia seeds
2 table spoons lemon juice
1 table spoon agave syrup
3 -400 ml almond milk
3 – 5 ice cubes
All ingredients put in blender, add more almond milk if you find the smoothie to thick.
Breakfast/drink for two. It`s rich of fibre, protein, vitamin A-C and E, calcium and healthy fat.
Recipe for almond milk
100 gr whole pealed almonds
200 ml water
4 ice cubes
The almonds are put in a blender along with the ice cubes. Let the blender work on this for a while; add the water in little portions until its smooth. You can easily drink the almond milk but we use it in smoothies.

Chia seeds are fantastic. They are incredibly rich of nutrition and are, for that reason, considered to be in the super food category. The story of Chia seeds goes back to 3500 B.C and the story tells us that they were important part of Maya`s and Azteca`s food.
The Chia seeds are rich of protein and contain up to 30 gr of protein in each 100 gr, which is more than in chicken breasts or lamb. It is ideal to add them in the smoothie, in home made bread, in the porridge to increase the protein in the meals. The seeds are very rich of calcium, iron, magnesium and phosphor. They are also full of fibre.
The Chia seeds are rich of necessary omega 3 and omega 6 fat acids. They are the best source of omega 3 acids that you can have. Usually omega acids get damaged during cooking but in the chia seeds they do not. That is because the acids are attached to the seeds fibre, which are very rich of antioxidant. It is best to use the chia seeds raw.
The body needs antioxidant to maintain normal body function and youth glow. Chia seeds are rich of antioxidant and therefor promote health for every cell in the body. The Chia seeds help keeping the blood glucose in the body balanced. The seeds do not have strong flavour so the will not be overwhelm other ingredients, they rather increase flavour from other foods.
Like the olive the avocado fruit has the highest percentage of monounsaturated fat acids, or about 20%. This is about 20 times more than in other fruits. The potassium content of the avocado is three times more than in bananas. Other contents are, for example, iron and copper for the blood, phosphor and magnesium. Avocado is ideal for diabetes and people that suffer from low blood glucose because it contains a lot of sodium, the sugar value is low and it has no starch.
Avocado also contains a lot of fibre or most of all, compared to other fruits and vegetable. It is full of vitamin A, B and especially folic acid, powerful antioxidants like vitamin C and E, iron, calcium, potassium and many more. Because of its perfect combination of easy digested carbs and protein avocado is ideal for smoothies.
Ripe and raw avocado is full of life enzymes and easy digested protein and carbs. These qualities put avocado on top of the list of easy digested foods that contain as much quantity of protein and fat acids.
Avocado contain oleic and linoleic acids that lower LDL cholesterol (the bad one) and rises the HDL cholesterol (the good one). If you eat avocado regularly you strengthen the immune system of the body. The B6 vitamin helps to prevent nausea which often follows pregnancy. Some research show that certain nutrition in avocado prevent growth of prostate cancer and even help fixing damaged cells. Last but not least you can not forget that the oil in avocado is often used in beauty products. It is my opinion that if you drink Chia seeds and avocado smoothies you will not need beauty products.
How does one choose avocado in the supermarket? Often you come home from the store with three avocado but when you are about to eat them two of the three are bad. I recommend picking the hardest avocado. Not the soft ones. The fruit is very sensitive to heat changes like happens in many supermarkets. It is better to buy the avocado hard as a rock and then store it on your kitchen counter for 3-4 days and then you can keep it good for few days in your fridge. However if you want to speed up the process, put the avocado in a paper bag along with an apple or a banana for 24 hours, keep the paper bag closed tight.
