Are you looking for a good soup or the best soup? Im often looking for one or trying to prepare a really good resipe. I want to develop the resipe of the best soup. In my research for healthy, rich soup I prepared this resipe „GooglW soup“ Healthy Chicken And Vegetable soup.
GooglW – The name.
Usually when I prepare resipes I want to name them. I had been looking for a good combination and tried few things in developing healthy good soup. When I did this one, which happend to be pretty good, the quantity got more than I had planned or a double portion. Then I came up with that special name GooglW. Double U meaning double quantity. I often say „this was a good googl“ when I get good searching results from Google. I have no idea if other icelanders use this phrase in gengeral. Icelandic people are a huge internet nation
Almost everybody on Facebook and everybody googling
People in Iceland spend a lot of time on the internet and over 95 % of the population has access to the internet at home. Over 75% of those that have internet access spend more than 7 hours a day on line. Most of them are on Facebook and everybody on Google. About 65% of the icelandic people from the age of 16-67 years old uses Facebook everyday or several times a day. A little less than 65% from the age of 18-67 years old say that they use Google everyday and 25% say that they go on YouTube. But enough about this statistics, here comes the resipe GooglW
GooglW Soup – Healthy chicken and vegetable soup.
For 6 – 10 people
1 whole chicken, boned and refined. Or 6 chicken breasts.
1 sweet potatoe
1 cup barley-cereal grain (About barley from Iceland here)
4 ribs of garlic
5 branches of arctic thyme
½ -1 red chili
1 branch rosemary
2 x 2 cm ginger root
Juice from ½ a lemmon
¼ of a shredded lemmon bark
2 x ½ cans of organic coconut milk, Biona or Rapunzel
1 x ½ cans of chopped and pealed tomatoes with basel. Biona Organic.
2 x ½ cans of water – Ideal to rinse and use the cans from the tomatoes and coconut milk.
1 ½ – 2 table spoons of turmeric – Organic from Sonnentor
1 table spoon Garam masala –Organic from Sonnentor
3 table spoons + Tamari(Glutenfree) sause.
Black or green grinded pepper.
½ bell pepper
Attention: in fact the spices are just an idea, you have to taste and control yourself. Its also good to add curry to the spices.
The chicken is lightly pan fried and put aside.
Onion, kohlrab, carrots, fennel and the sweet potato are cut into little bites and put in a pot with the barley-cereal grain, oile and seasoned with pepper. This is all fried for a while, just to let the oil soften the ingredients.
Tomatoes, garlic, thyme, chili, rosemary and ginger is put in a food prosessor until its smooth and then its all put in the pot along with all the root vegetable.
Lemmon juice, lemmon bark/zeist, coconut milk, caned tomatoes and water also put in the pot, heat up to a boil and let it stand for 20 minutes. Then you put the chicken in the pot and the soup is seasoned after your taste. Let it stand for a wile, then the bell pepper is put inside and again you let the soup stand for a while.
The boiling time is about 60-80 minutes. Longer if you want your soup to have a richer taste. Its also good to let the soup stand on the stove right before you serve it.
