What is Monkfish ?  - Monkfish recipes and big Monkfish in Iceland     

A huge monkfish was caught in the north shore here in Iceland in the middle of Mai. It turned out to be 126 cm long, 86 cm wide and weighted 26 kg. A Monkfish can be up to 200 cm long, but the largest one ever caught, here around Icelandic shores in 2000, was 155 cm long. The largest recorded specimen weighed 115 kg (250 lb) and was caught on January 7, 2012, in Norway.
